Letters to a Pre-Scientist (LPS) x STEM
Letters to a Pre-Scientist is a nonprofit organization that connects middle and high school students with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals through pen pal relationships. The program aims to inspire and support students from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in STEM fields by providing them with a mentorship experience.
How LPS Inspires Students in STEM
Students in classrooms across the country participating in the LPS program are paired with STEM professionals who volunteer to exchange letters with them throughout the school year. These professionals share their personal and professional experiences in the STEM field, offer advice, answer questions, and support the students in their interests in science and technology. The LPS initiative not only helps students develop a deeper understanding of STEM careers but provides them with role models who can motivate and guide them.
